On Saturday, I helped organize the Take Your Base 5-Miler put on by NYCRUNS, the Brooklyn Cyclones, and the American Cancer Society. The finish line was behind home plate at the Cyclones’ MCU Park — an awesome spot to end a hard run.
I asked my friend Michael, a Brooklyn native and a frequent commenter on my blog (and a blogger in his own right), to draw my next neighborhood on the field. It would have been amusing had he picked Coney Island; instead, he sent me back to Bed-Stuy.
Tompkins Park North is in northwest Bed-Stuy, bounded by Flushing, Classon, Gates, and Tompkins Avenues. I refer you to my introductory post to week fourteen for more information.
I had quite a bit of advice two weeks ago from some new Bed-Stuy friends on Twitter, so I’ll probably fall back on that for my upcoming trip.
