Week twenty-two: Sheepshead Bay

My friends Brooke and Leslie opened the brick-and-mortar version of their boozy culinary endeavor, Prohibition Bakery, on Tuesday. Leslie made this week’s selection.*

Brooke’s camera is much better than my iPhone.

Sheepshead Bay is just north of Brighton Beach, with which it has much in common in terms of demographics. Also to its south is what used to be Coney Island Creek, now a bay with the same name as the neighborhood.

I went for a run along the bay in February. Its length is lined with piers, most of which were quiet then. I have every confidence things will be a bit more lively this time around.

*Brooke is waiting to pick until she joins me on my trip to Bay Ridge. Her greatest fear is that Bay Ridge will be my last nabe.
