I didn’t take an overwhelming number of pictures on my trip to Plumb Beach, Dead Horse Bay, and Breezy Point, so this week’s gallery is smaller than usual.
- Bike path along the Shore Parkway.
- The few buildings on my map of Plumb Beach: an auto-parts store and a crab shack.
- The Plumb Beach parking lot and the remains of the bike path.
- The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge, seen from the bridge over the Gerritsen Inlet.
- Man fishing in the Gerritsen Inlet. (He hadn’t caught anything yet.)
- View of Manhattan from the Gerritsen Inlet bridge.
- Toll gates to the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge.
- Old train tracks at Breezy Point Roxbury.
- Old pier at Jacob Riis.
- Pedestrian signal on the drawbridge.
- Looking east from the bridge: Breezy Point left, Coney Island right, Verrazano Narrows Bridge far right.
- Bottle at Dead Horse Bay.
- Flask.
- Sign on the walk back from Dead Horse Bay: ‘”Barren Island” derives from the Dutch for “bear”. The Canarsie name is Equendito – but there is no evidence that any tribe established a presence here.’
- The crosswalk to Dead Horse Bay. It’s a strange sight.
- Beaten-up sign with information on the bike path.
- Main building at Floyd Bennett Field.
- One of many side paths to Plumb Beach.
I love these photos! I really want to go to the beach now! You should submit some to Canon’s Project Imaginat10n: https://www.longliveimagination.com
I’m glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for the suggestion – I’ll take a look through my collection to see what might work.
