My friend Karline joined me for ZIPPER on Tuesday afternoon. Fresh off her MPH from Columbia University, she spent much of the summer helping my nonprofit compile research. Unfortunately, she’ll be heading back to Canada to complete her MD before we can get lunch at Di Fara.
Home to a large Jewish community, Midwood is one of my favorite spots on the bike ride down Bedford Avenue. After the noise of Flatbush gives way to the serenity of the Brooklyn College quad, you enter a land of detached houses, lawns, and set-back sidewalks – a first taste of the suburbia to come. I’m excited to see what else happens there.
Avenue M serves as my southern border here, but most people agree Midwood extends down to Avenue P and Kings Highway. On my map, that area is occupied by a sub-neighborhood called Manhattan Terrace.
